Be part of an exciting, growing company. SPECS is seeking a mid-level Bridge Engineer to perform preliminary and final design for bridges, retaining walls, and drainage-related structures.

The qualified candidate will be able to:

  • Serve as project engineer, design engineer or checking engineer as assigned
  • Review and apply the recommendations of engineering technical reports and design conditions
  • Assist with structure type selection
  • Perform structural analyses, calculations and design
  • Use structural analysis programs and bridge design software
  • Oversee plan production and review drawings
  • Assure that drawings and designs are in accordance with company production and QA/QC standards as well as closely follow industry design standards
  • Perform quantity take-offs and develop cost estimates for project budgeting and evaluation of alternatives
  • Develop construction specifications and/or standard special provisions
  • Assist with monitoring design budgets and create and deliver accurate schedules
  • Perform construction phase services including shop drawing reviews and responding to contractor requests for information
  • Possess a strong work ethic, be self-motivated, flexible and able to multi-task with strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Work successfully in a group, generate ideas, and estimate time to completion for tasks

Basic Qualifications:

  • 2-10 years of experience in the analysis and design of all types of bridges including steel, concrete, precast and post-tensioned bridges
  • Experienced in analysis and design techniques, preparation of plans/details/exhibits, code requirements and guidelines
  • Self-motivated, flexible, and able to handle multiple tasks
  • Experience with AASHTO LRFD with CA Amendments and ADA codes are preferred
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, structural analysis software, and AutoCAD
  • CANDE / Bentley LEAP / CSI Bridge / CTAbut / L-Pile knowledge beneficial
  • Detail-oriented with an ability to assemble calculations, plans, and specifications meeting client expectations
  • EIT Certificate is required at a minimum.
  • Familiarity with seismic analysis and design of bridges, familiarity with Caltrans consultant delivery process preferred

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil / Structural Engineering from an accredited university.
